What We Do

Habit8 is a firm that upholds the integrity of the urban landscape. We bring together urban design, landscape architecture, and place making to create activated, rejuvenated, and sustainable urban environments and communities.

Place-making

We listen to and study local communities. It's the stories and experiences of the local people that help us shape environments to facilitate social interaction, high-quality public space, and improve that community's quality of life.

Urban Design

We design and master plan urban precincts and large scale public domain projects with high integrity and creativity strengthening place value for the client and community.

Landscape Architecture

Our work is innovative, beautiful and responsive to the client's brief and site context. Our landscape architecture team has extensive experience working with architects, developers and Councils to provide landscape consultancy services of high industry standards.

"Our Country is living breathing life. Our land is reflected in us, and we are reflected in the land."

"Our past, present and future is all in the land, from creation time to future time-all at once."

Who We Are

An urban landscape consultancy

About Habit8

Habit8 was born from the multi disciplinary firm Habitation which started in 2003 as a studio of architects, landscape architects and planners. This studio was successful in delivering major development, sporting and public projects. Habit8 was born in 2010 and since then, we have delivered an incredible variety of projects from famous public spaces to large scale development projects, sports facilities and playgrounds. Much of these works were covered in multiple media agencies and principal David Vago has been recognised as one of Sydney’s most innovative urban futurists.

Habit8 creates experiences, engages communities and physically delivers constructed environments based on stories, visions and promises. Our projects represent a “bottom up” approach to urban place making. Places, landscapes and experiences driven by user interaction. Our process involves an intrinsic understanding of delivery of constructed space, development, planning regulation and the politics of place well beyond traditional landscape architecture practice.

Our Process

Habit8 have created a unique 8 step process in creating new places and spaces whether it be for large scale property development or public domain for local council and Government. This method is called the L&D method and is unique to habit8.

  1. Listen ( Hear those local stories and listen to communities, clients and experts with experience and knowledge)
  2. Learn (Research and discover the history, climate and context of the project)
  3. Love (Respect the project and environment, love the people and believe in a positive outcome)
  4. Live (Study how people live and how they use space.)
  5. Dream (Be imaginative and dream of all creative possibilities-anything is possible)
  6. Decide (make decisions that are balanced and informative and representative of clients, communities and the current market indicators)
  7. Document ( Ideas, concepts and visions should be communicated effectively and be constructed to budgets and timeframes)
  8. Deliver (Deliver on those early project promises and visions through exceptional project management and practical design solutions)
